PMI Belgium Mentoring Program

The PMI Belgium Mentoring Program is a one-to-one, goal-oriented experience that helps members turn ambition into momentum. Through the exchange of experiences, insights, and support, both mentors and mentees grow personally and professionally.

Our structured approach develops project management competencies and leadership skills while building a strong, supportive community. We foster a culture of continuous learning so participants can thrive and contribute to the profession.

Way of working

The program connects mentors and mentees based on interests, skills, and professional aspirations. In a confidential one-to-one setting, pairs explore challenges, exchange ideas, and co-create practical next steps.

For mentees

  • Gain practical insight from experienced practitioners
  • Accelerate learning and build skills to navigate complex environments

For mentors

  • Give back to the community and shape the next generation
  • Refine leadership and coaching practice

Together, pairs align clear objectives from the outset and keep a steady cadence, creating the conditions for sustained progress.

Eligibility requirements

For mentees

  • Open to PMI Belgium Chapter members in good standing
  • Curiosity, commitment, and readiness to act

For mentors

  • Experienced project professionals willing to volunteer time and uphold program standards
  • Completion of the Confidentiality Agreement and Conflict of Interest declaration before onboarding

Commitment

Pairs meet at least once a month over a six-month period. Additional meetings are welcome. If circumstances change, contact mentoring@pmi-belgium.be so the team can provide support.

Frequently Asked Questions

Speed Mentoring (New)

Speed Mentoring is a flexible, on-demand mentoring format designed for members who need targeted guidance on a specific challenge, without committing to a long-term mentoring relationship.

Instead of being matched with a named mentor, mentees are connected with an expert persona representing a specific project management sector or discipline (e.g., Pharma & Life Sciences, Green/Sustainability, AI, Construction, Consulting, Change Management, Digital & IT, General Project Management). Each persona is supported by experienced volunteer professionals from the PMI Belgium Chapter and its Communities of Practice.

Speed Mentoring sessions are short, focused, and practical, typically lasting up to 30 minutes, and aim to provide clarity, direction, and actionable next steps.

Speed Mentoring is being launched as a pilot initiative, starting with the Community of Practice Life Sciences, and will be further refined based on lessons learned before broader rollout.

For ongoing development and long-term mentoring, members are encouraged to apply to our Mentoring Program.
