Ethics and Governance in Project Management • PMI Chapter Xchange

Overview
Ethics and governance are core to effective project management. Ethics means acting with honesty, fairness, respect and responsibility in every decision and interaction. Project managers often face competing interests and complex stakeholder dynamics. Upholding professional conduct and avoiding conflicts of interest builds credibility and trust.
Governance provides the framework for sound decisions and oversight. Clear policies, roles, processes and reporting ensure alignment with strategy, compliance with laws and regulations, and effective risk management. Strong governance creates consistency and confidence across the project lifecycle.
Together, ethics and governance foster transparency, accountability and sustainable results. Teams make better decisions, engage stakeholders more effectively and deliver lasting value to the organisation.
