Title:

A Triple-Green Light for Triple-Bottom-Line Thinking
Speaker:  Rich Maltzman

 About the presentation:

Sustainability, like quality, is an inherent characteristic of every project.

Sustainability – which you can interpret here as ‘long term thinking’ tied into a tight knot with ‘benefits realization’ and value delivery - should permeate every aspect of project planning. Don’t segregate these subjects, these ideas, this wisdom, from your project management thinking. They are not incompatible! To contribute to organizational success, projects should increasingly think “past the transition date”.
Participants will learn why this is so important, will be shown some models as to how to imagine and even track this aspect of PM, and in particular will focus on how to make a change – to shift their thinking to (1) understand the concepts of sustainability, and (2) bring this to action in their organizations.

Bio Speaker:

I consider myself a ‘pracademic’ – currently Master Lecturer at Boston University, an author, and a consultant, who provides students and clients with a deep, rich learning experience and/or improved results. I have a 40-year career in telecom, mainly in engineering and project management.
I have a BSEE from the University of Massachusetts, an MSIE from Purdue University. I’ve taught at Shenyang University in China. I’m a former VP of Professional Development for PMI MassBay, and I was on the Review Committee for the 7th Edition PMBOK® Guide.
I’ve presented on the topics of Quality and PM, Sustainability, and PM Competency at PMI conferences in the US, Italy, Malaysia, Ireland, Costa Rica, Canada, and The Netherlands, where I also lived for two years on an international PMO assignment.

Presentation experience
Aside from my professional experience – especially as Master Lecturer at Boston University, I have presented recently at the Ireland PMI National Conference and the combined Northern, Central, and Southern Italy chapter National Conference, as well as several times at PMI MassBay. Further, I have presented at The Conference Board’s Quality Conference in Mexico City, at PMI Congresses in Italy, Costa Rica, and for PM South Africa, and at the invitation of the government of Malaysia, in Kuala Lumpur.

Important note - Books:
I have co-authored several books on PM Sustainability – including the Cleland Award-Winning Green Project Management, and the follow-up Driving Project, Program, and Portfolio Success.

About PM Fair 2021:

For more than 20 years, PMI Belgium has held an annual congress, the ‘PM Fair’, where prominent speakers of national and international reputation are invited to share their experiences and recent developments and future trends in the field of project management. This popular event is attended by over 200 PMI members, sponsoring organizations and other enthusiasts of the project management profession.

Building on last year’s successful extension of the event to become the international Benelux PM Fair, we are pleased to announce the 2021 PM Fair with the participation of the chapters of Luxembourg, The Netherlands and Belgium. Going virtual enables us to extend the existing wonderful relationship among the different chapters and to expand our potential audience to over 2000 members. Last year’s event taught us that this was a successful cooperation which we want to maintain and improve. The circumstances did change in comparison with last year and that’s why we will approach this year’s event two-sided:

  • Firstly, we plan central live online sessions for 4 days ( Monday through Thursday ).
  • Secondly, We would like to invite our Belgian members to a live event on Friday the 08th October. The sessions in our main room will also be live streamed online (you can register for them) and on top of that we will have some interesting break out sessions for our people present in the venue (these sessions won't be live streamed or recorded) of course there will be lots of time to finally network again with friends and colleague project managers. Drinks, lunch and an evening reception are included (with respect to the covid measures in place at the time of the event). This year we welcome you in the Africa Museum located in Tervuren (easy access by public transportation and by car)

The congress will be spread over an entire week, from Monday the 4th of October to Friday the 8th of October. We intend to organize two online sessions per day, the first one at lunchtime and the second one at early evening. This way we can maximise the possibility for our members to participate at the online sessions. We will close the congress on Friday the 8th of October with an in-person closing session.
