On July 1st, PMI Belgium hosted “The Great Walk: Walking with Purpose”, an inspiring online session highlighting one of the most meaningful cross-European initiatives we’ve seen this year.

This wasn’t just another webinar. It was a moment to pause, reflect, and engage with a project that blends storytelling, endurance, and strategic thinking to drive real social impact.

Led by Andrew Funk and Toby Plüss — the visionaries behind The Great Walk and founders of Homeless Entrepreneur — the session offered attendees a unique look into the structure, goals, and challenges of this 880 km journey from Linz to Madrid.

Their mission?

To raise awareness about homelessness, change perceptions, and inspire action across Europe.

A Global Audience and Tangible Energy

The event drew an international audience, with attendees joining not only from across Europe but also from Australia and Brazil — a testament to the global relevance of the cause and the resonance of the message.

Despite a last-minute technical glitch (our sincere apologies to those who faced issues connecting), the session delivered. The energy was tangible, with insightful discussions, active engagement, and genuine interest. Great connections were made, and we even saw interest from other PMI chapters to get involved.

A Growing Network of Support

This session is part of a broader Project Managers Without Borders cross-chapter initiative supported by 10 PMI Chapters (so far): Barcelona, Switzerland, Belgium, Netherlands, Romania, Madrid, Poland, Portugal, Ireland, and Turkey.

Looking Ahead

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Andrew and Toby for their powerful, personal presentation — and for truly walking the talk. We’re also grateful to everyone who attended and contributed to the conversation.

To those who were unable to join due to technical difficulties: we’re sorry, and we hope to welcome you to future events.

We are now looking forward to welcoming Andrew and Toby in Belgium from August 14 to 17. We hope to walk alongside them — both physically and in solidarity.
