About 8 years ago the PMI Belgium Education Team reached out to ISF Waterloo (International School Flanders) to show them the advantage of project management for a school.
All teachers had a 2 days training and from that point on the wagon began to roll.
First moment when the PMI skills were used was during the Winter show that ISF does every year. It was a huge success and a lot of parents said that one was the best show in years.
We continued to keep close contact and were involved in the huge project done by iSF to become the first 100% Google school in Belgium.
They succeeded thanks to the hard work of Belinda Yates and her team. As some of you will remember, we organized a PMI Belgium event at the school and a lot of project managers were surprised by the project skills of the teachers. It was one of the highlights of that year for our PMI Belgian chapter.
As a member of the advisory board for the school I am still closely connected to the school.
This year they reached a great goal: they got their CIS award (council of international schools). For an international school this is one of the most important achievements to aspire to.
To say it in the words of Belinda, head of ISF Waterloo and Tervuren: "CIS is the Council of International Schools- worldwide any curriculum but needs to be assessed in 8 domains- not just curriculum but also well-being, communication, facilities etc. The CIS was really a big ´project´ over 5 years and the skills we learnt from you were invaluable."
This shows what you can do as a volunteer. PMI can really make a difference thanks to our fantastic volunteers.
If you are interested, please join our Education team, other schools can also benefit from project management skills.
