Summer is in full swing. Colorful flowers are blossoming everywhere. Lush green trees and grass give freshness and vitality to life. Everyone seems to be enjoying the lovely bright, long and warm days. Some of you may already be on vacation with your loved ones and having a great time. Others may be looking forward to their planned vacation. This is the time to take a break from the regular schedule of busy life and spend time with oneself and one’s family and to nurture our relationships. Break is also important to recharge our batteries to become more creative and productive for the second half of the year. So we hope that you all are taking your well deserved break and having all the fun.

At the end I want to close the communication by telling our story. The PM Fair is a project from volunteers to professional. We work as volunteers to organize the project with the resources we have. All the team members are volunteers giving to the community of project management their time and effort to be able to achieve this project.
If you would like to meet the organizing team, please reserve your place and don’t miss the day.
This year, we have decided to organise a new kind of events.
The Family Event consists of welcoming the families of our members and also to thank you all the families for their patience when the husband/wife comes later at home after a Chapter Event.
It’s really the occasion to discover our members and the Board on an informal moment.
The Belgium Chapter is really made by the members for the members to have a common interaction.
I hope you’ll enjoy this first family event.
I’m looking forward to seeing you all at Nieuwpoort.
Director of PM Fair & Events 2018-2019
PMI-Belgium invades the Belgian Coast at Nieuwpoort
On August 10 we come together with family and friends in the lovely coast city of Nieuwpoort, a city that played a very important role during World War I.
We gather round 11 AM in the neighbourhood of the Parking Kaai next to the monument of Albert I. Those who come by public transport can take the tram exit Kaai, the tram stops at the Kaai. I propose we meet at the monument and go together for a drink -there are enough good Belgian pubs in that area.
Meeting point: Memorial statue of King Albert I in Nieuwpoort at 11:00 AM
After the aperitif we can decide what to do - we leave you the choice. You can visit the monument, take a very nice walk or take the tram to the coast with your children. It is a family event.
We found three activities that can be interesting:
You can take a long walk (the day is filled with this) on the dyke, taking the boat and end your walk through the nature park: 'De Ijzermonding’. If you want to join us on that walk, be sure to bring drinks and picnic.
You can go to the ‘Westfront’ museum: entrance 7.5 Euro. When we are at least 20 the price is 5.5 Euro. A guide costs 60 Euro.
Last option is to go to the city shopping and drinking, eating; just take the tram to Nieuwpoort Bad and take a walk of about one hour.
At 5 PM we gather again at the same place, take a drink together and go our own way home or …
I ordered good weather, good beer and good atmosphere.
See you all,

We have the pleasure to offer you an exclusive event hosted at Brussels Airport by Brussels Airport Company (BAC). We’ll have look at the organizational transformation of BAC and we’ll have the chance to go backstage in the operations of the airport.
The operating context for airports is changing rapidly. The old model of just assuring the flight movements and the safety of the passengers is no longer enough to compete in today’s aviation world. New business lines must be developed and scaled and run efficiently. The concept of “customer of the airport” is evolving and the expectations of the customer are best described as liquid. BAC has chosen for a transformation to gear up for the decades to come.
To support such a transformation, the concept of the PMO has evolve too. The evolution of the BAC PMO is this evening’s topic. BAC will be sharing the problems faced by the transformation and their evolving answer from a PMO standpoint. This presentation will not be a presentation about templates and workflows, it shall address fundamental strategic issues and the corresponding strategic answer by PMO eg. How to design your PMO and Portfolios to tailor to a flexible organization, where departments are reorganized on a regular basis.
Next to the presentation, BAC is offering an exclusive tour behind the scenes of Brussels Airport. You’ll have the opportunity to visit the complex infrastructure to handle 41.917 luggage pieces per day OR the fire and emergency service, who can reach every point in the airport within 2 min time and more.
Since the tours behind the scenes require a security check, you will be requested to add a copy of your identification during the registration process. For Belgian nationals, a copy of the ID card front and back will suffice, for non-Belgian nationals a copy of the passport will be required.
The evening will end with a networking drink and some food to engage with each other.
The PMI Belgium Chapter is governed by a volunteer board of directors elected by members like you. You have the opportunity to influence the Chapter's future by proposing your candidature to serve on the 2020-2021 PMI Belgium Chapter Board of Directors.
During this election 2019 the following position are open:
Director of Events
Director for PMFair (one year function)
Director of Communications
Director of Educational Outreach
Director of Professional Development
Director of Sponsorship
Director of Finance
Associate director of communications
The call for candidature will be open as from Mid-August 2019, see the complete planning below.
Volunteering for a board position is an important decision since it will require from you to dedicate a part of your private hours to your community, but it also provide a large number of advantages, like providing you a unique occasion to embrace the role of an Executive within an official organisation and from there develop new skills in a domain you may eventually never experiment before. This will also give you many opportunities to meet other people and to further develop your network and reputation.
It is a good moment during the summer holiday period to think already about it and to reflect for yourself about this opportunity to contribute to the success of our Chapter.
