PMP Certification Exam Refresh Coming in July 2026

Key updates to the new exam include:

  • Future-forward topics: increased emphasis on AI, sustainability, and value-focused decision-making.
  • Adaptive approaches: stronger focus on Agile and hybrid methods, with less emphasis on strictly predictive models.
  • Outcome and impact orientation: expanded coverage of value delivery beyond traditional scope, schedule, and cost measures.
  • More inclusive eligibility: recognition of apprenticeships and vocational education as valid pathways.

The updated Exam Content Outline is available now, with pilot opportunities and refreshed exam prep materials planned for early 2026.

New Advanced Certification in Development

PMI is progressing on an advanced-level certification designed for practitioners leading high-complexity and high-impact initiatives. The pilot phase is currently underway with select accredited organizations.

Candidates participating in the pilot will follow a three-step process:

  • Hold an active PMP certification.
  • Complete a peer review conducted by a PMI-accredited organization.
  • Take a PMI standardized proctored exam.

More details will be shared as the pilot continues and the certification moves toward its planned 2026 launch.

These updates reflect PMI’s ongoing commitment to strengthening our profession and equipping project professionals with modern standards, enhanced certifications, and intelligent tools. We encourage practitioners to stay informed, explore the new resources, and prepare for the opportunities ahead.

Our chapter remains committed to sharing updates and supporting our community as the project landscape continues to evolve.
