Recap – Scope Management & Business Requirements: PM & BA Perspectives (PMBOK + BABOK)
On June 10, 2025, IIBA Brussels, Randstad Digital, and PMI Belgium came together for their second joint event — an engaging evening focused on scope and requirements management from both Business Analyst and Project Manager perspectives. Framed around PMBOK and BABOK, the session combined theory with practice in a collaborative, hands-on format.
Building on a Shared Journey
Following our first session on Stakeholder Management, this event marked a new step in exploring synergies between BAs and PMs. Hosted at Randstad Digital’s Leuven office by Pieter Luycx, the evening brought together a vibrant crowd of enthusiastic participants eager to share, learn, and connect.
The energy in the room was fantastic, filled with enthusiastic participants ready to explore common ground between our two professional communities.
A Creative Dive into Scope and Requirements
The goal of the evening was to deep-dive into Scope and Requirements Management, exploring the topic through two complementary lenses: those of the Business Analyst and the Project Manager.
The interactive workshop — “Organizing a Party for the 1000th Anniversary of HappyTown” — helped us simulate the planning process and unpack how BAs and PMs approach scoping and requirement gathering in practical, often different, ways.
Valuable insights were shared during the session by Joanna, Elena, Didier, and myself, sparking lively exchanges. Together with the audience, we gained practical takeaways and recognized how combining PMBOK and BABOK thinking can help bridge gaps and boost collaboration.
Growing Together – Next Stop: Gent
One key outcome of the evening: the perceived divide between PM and BA roles is narrowing. When we bring our knowledge bases together and collaborate openly, we all grow.
Looking ahead, our third joint event is already planned!
