PMI has officially launched the PMO Certified Professional (PMI-PMOCP)™ on February 4, 2025!

This brand-new certification is a major step forward for PMO professionals, providing them with practical tools, proven strategies, and valuable insights to lead customer-focused, high-impact PMOs.

The PMI-PMOCP™ is built on the latest PMI publication, Project Management Offices: A Practice Guide, developed with input from hundreds of experienced PMO leaders and industry experts worldwide. The guide introduces the PMO Value Ring™ Framework, a groundbreaking approach that helps PMO professionals turn their offices into strategic, customer-driven teams that deliver real business value.

The PMI-PMOCP™ builds upon the PMO Certified Practitioner (PMO-CP) certification, which PMI acquired from PMO Global Alliance (PMOGA) in December 2023. It has been completely redesigned to meet the demands of today’s business landscape, equipping professionals to build and lead high-performing, value-driven PMOs.

To be eligible for the PMI-PMOCP™, you must have:

Education & Experience

• At least 3 years of project-related experience (OR a PMP certification)
• 10 hours of formal PMO-specific training
• PMI will offer an on-demand exam prep course to help candidates meet the training requirement.

 

How to Apply for PMI-PMOCP™

1. Submit your application online at PMI.org. You’ll have 90 days to complete and edit your application.
2. Once approved, pay the exam fee and schedule your test.
3. Take the 120-question exam either in-person at a testing center or online with a proctor.
4. Pass the exam and earn your PMI-PMOCP™ certification! 🎉

 

Transitioning from PMO-CP to PMI-PMOCP™

If you hold the PMO Certified Practitioner (PMO-CP) credential, PMI is offering a seamless transition to PMI-PMOCP™ at no additional cost in Q1 2025.

• No new exam required
• Submit a brief application confirming your experience
• Maintain certification by earning 30 PDUs every three years

Upon opting in, you’ll receive:

• A new PMI-PMOCP™ digital certificate
• A PMI-PMOCP™ Credly badge

If you choose not to opt in, your PMO-CP remains valid with no renewal fees.
