PMI Community of Practice in Life Sciences Summer Event
PMI Community of Practice in Life Sciences Summer Event
On 23 June, our Community of Practice in Life Sciences and PwC welcomed project and portfolio management professionals from the pharma and biotech sectors for an inspiring summer event at PwC Brussels.
Under the theme "AI in Life Sciences PPM: Are You Ahead, Behind, or Just Getting Started?", participants explored how artificial intelligence is transforming project and portfolio management. The afternoon kicked off with a lively panel discussion, where industry experts : Imme Van der Taelen, PhD, PMP, Gordon Topping, Muhammad Salman Saif and Michiel De Keyzer. shared their perspectives on the opportunities, challenges, and practical applications of AI within PMOs. This panel discussion was moderated by our very own Kamil Mroz.
The conversation then moved from theory to practice with an interactive Capture the AI Flag game, giving participants a hands-on opportunity to experiment with AI tools in a fun and collaborative way. The session concluded with an open discussion on both the power and the limitations of AI, highlighting an important takeaway: while AI is rapidly changing the way we manage projects, human expertise, critical thinking, and sound judgment remain essential to delivering reliable and trustworthy outcomes.
As AI continues to reshape portfolio decision-making, risk management, and reporting, one message stood out clearly: regardless of where you are on your AI journey, the key is to stay curious, keep experimenting, and embrace the opportunities AI offers to enhance our daily work.
The afternoon ended with a relaxed networking reception, where participants continued exchanging ideas, sharing experiences, and building valuable new connections.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined and contributed to the engaging discussions. Special thanks to PwC for hosting us and for introducing us to Flaggi, who certainly added a memorable touch to the event.
