Newsletter-October 2018
Dear member,
We wish you all a very happy 2 0th Anniversary of PMI Belgium Chapter. During the first PMI Europe Conference in June 1997 in Paris, the idea was born to create a more local chapter for the Benelux countries. After significant preparation work by the founding Board of Directors, the PMI Benelux Chapter was officially recognized by the Project Management Institute as an independent component in the fourth quarter of 1998. We are proud to celebrate our history and continuity. We sincerely thank all the volunteers and the executive board members from 1998 onwards who have given their precious time, energy, knowledge, experience and dedication to help our chapter grow to where we are today. We also thank all our members as the chapter exists because of the members, by the members and for the members. Last but not least, we also thank all our current and old chapter sponsors who have always supported us through this journey.
The month of October is especially busy for the volunteers. It started with the long awaited PM Fair 2018 which was a huge success. Thanks to the PM Fair team for their hard work, their creativity, their enthusiasm and above all their facilitation skills which has proven that
Facilitation is the ultimate PM Skill. You will be read more about the PM Fair in the article below.
We are now preparing for the next Chapter event that will take place on 24th October followed by Volunteer day event on 27th October and we hope to see you there .
PM Fair 2018 - Thank you all participants
On 5th of October we had our 19th edition of the PMI Belgium Chapter Annual Congress, The PM Fair 2018 . The congress was also the celebration moment of the 20th anniversary of the Chapter. We were 220 participants for this session; a BIG THANK YOU for your participation; your enthusiasm for taking part in all activities; all your smiling faces during the day. All of your positive feedbacks are confirming that you adopted this new PM Fair concept.
Once again, the Volunteering Team has made a tremendous job during the last 10 months for setting up an outstanding event. We would like to congratulate all speakers and volunteers who made this event such a great success. Without their contribution this congress would simply not exist. The contribution of the sponsors to this event is also of great importance as they support a part of the costs and also took part in the animation of the Inspiration Hall. Thanks to all our sponsors for their unwavering support.
Leave a footprint of your experience as PMI Volunteer
On 28 February, 2012 the Project Management Institute launched a new system to manage their volunteers called VRMS (Volunteer Relationship Management System) (
https://vrms.pmi.org).
This project contributed highly to the value of the volunteers as the they are now able to collaborate with others in volunteering assignments both locally or globally.
We strongly advise to update your VRMS profile with the latest information, so your contribution to the project management society can be valued.
In case you have questions on the use of VRMS you can download a user’s manual in the Document section of the PMI Belgium Chapter website. This manual describes how to
register, how to update your volunteering history, how to search for volunteering opportunities, how to apply for an opportunity and how to claim PDUs after completing a volunteering assignment.
Time worked as a volunteer can be claimed through the Continuing Certification Requirements System (https
://
ccrs.pmi.org) in the category “Giving Back”. This is the same category that you use to report PDUs on your “Work as a Practitioner” and “Create Content”. Be aware that the number of PDUs you can claim through “Giving Back” is limited to:
- 25 PDUs (applicable for the PMP, PgMP, PfMP and PMI-PBA certifications)
- 12 PDUs (applicable for the PMI-ACP, PMI-RMP and PMI-SP certifications)
Should you have any additional questions, don’t hesitate to get in touch with the Director or Associate Director of Volunteering on volunteering@pmi-belgium.be
