Articles
Professional Development

As of February 2025, the Project Management Institute (PMI) is actively working on the Eighth Edition of the PMBOK® Guide. This update is designed to reflect modern industry practices and emerging trends, ensuring it remains relevant in today's fast-changing project management landscape.

What’s Changing?

PMI has proposed several key updates, including:

  • Updated terminology and definitions to match current industry standards.
  • Refined processes to offer better guidance on project methodologies and job responsibilities.
  • Expanded coverage of Process Groups to provide a more comprehensive project management framework.
  • Improved Project Principles and Performance Domains for greater clarity and practical use.
  • Simplified Inputs, Outputs, Tools, and Techniques (ITTOs) to make them more practical and easier to apply.

These changes aim to streamline project management practices and align the guide with real-world applications.

When Will It Be Released?

As of now, PMI has not officially announced a release date for the PMBOK® Guide – Eighth Edition. However, PMI typically updates the guide every four to five years, with the last edition (Seventh Edition) released in August 2021. Based on this timeline, the new edition is expected in the near future, but no exact date has been confirmed.

We’ll keep an eye out for updates from PMI and share any official announcements as soon as they become available!
