Message from the President — May 2025: Leadership, Community, and What Comes Next
Little by little, our new Board of Directors is finding its rhythm. Some members stepped into ongoing responsibilities, while others had the chance to dream and shape new initiatives from the ground up. Together, we crafted and reviewed our annual plan—a meaningful roadmap to guide the activities we want to bring to life for our members.
Over the past month, several of our board members took part in enriching courses designed to deepen their understanding of the PMI community. These experiences have not only enhanced their knowledge but also sparked a deeper sense of purpose. The courses were a prerequisite to attend the Europe Leadership Institute Meeting (LIM) in Barcelona, where I had the pleasure of traveling with four of our board members.
The LIM was nothing short of inspiring. With 234 passionate individuals representing 43 European chapters, it reminded us that leadership isn’t about titles—it’s about creating a space where people feel inspired to belong and contribute. Whether you're a leader, a member, or a volunteer, each of us plays a role in shaping something meaningful.
Pierre Le Manh, our CEO, equipped us with valuable tools to elevate our mission. Building on last year’s embrace of the PMI:Next strategy, we took a bold step forward in shaping our vision for “M.O.R.E.” grounded in the PMBOK as our starting point. As I introduced our board to other chapter leaders, something special happened—connections formed, inspiration flowed, and ideas sparked into life.
It was heartening to witness the curiosity, enthusiasm, and drive of our board members as they learned from peers facing similar challenges and triumphs. Between sessions, we exchanged insights, brainstormed new projects, and dreamed together. We returned home reenergized—with fresh ideas and one key realization: we can’t do this alone.
To bring these ideas to life, we need you—your passion, your hands, your heart. You are the lifeblood of the PMI Belgium Chapter. That’s why we’re dedicating a special Member Day event to celebrate your involvement, your journey, and the unique talents you bring.
📅 Join us on Saturday, 24 May 2025, at LABIOMISTA in Genk for a day dedicated to you. Membership is more than a fee—it’s about belonging to a vibrant community that thrives on collaboration and connection.
The seeds we planted last year are beginning to flourish. One exciting example is our partnership with the IIBA Brussels Chapter—the community of Business Analysts. This year, we’ll co-host two joint events, exploring the powerful synergy between our disciplines, using both the PMBOK and the BABOK as guiding frameworks.
While in Barcelona, we also connected with the Netherlands and Luxembourg Chapters to begin preparing for the upcoming BENELUX Summit 2025. Yes, it’s happening—a dedicated PMI Benelux Day to strengthen regional collaboration and build bridges across borders.
This year’s theme, “Project Management in the AI Era: Bridging Precision, Creativity, and Innovation,” sets the stage for a unique and timely conversation. But it won’t stop at the technical. We’ll also dive into the human dimension of project management.
Because while AI is transforming our world, we must ask: What about the human? Empathy, judgment, trust, connection—these are the things no algorithm can replace. AI can support human needs, but it’s people who give AI meaning and purpose. In that partnership lies true progress.
Let’s keep building, dreaming, and making a difference—together, as one community.
