Review on our High Performance Leadership training

Articles

With the seventh floor of the Van Der Valk hotel, overlooking the airport and the Brussels ring setting the scene, the PMI Belgium Chapter was proud to present the inspirational leadership session. This session is the first of two masterclasses organised for 2016 by the Chapter. Lars Sudmann, leadership expert and championship speaker, delivered the leadership training in his typical style. Known for his energy and practicality, Lars Sudmann manages to capture the abstract notion of Leadership and mould it into a concrete process accompanied by hands-on tools.

The day starts with laying a strong foundation: the Leadership Framework. The framework is being put into context in todays virtual, VUCA and inspirational challenges. Starting with the first step “Envision”, the leaders vision is laid bare by using tools like the vision storyboard and the notion of the Minimum Viable Vision. Moving to “Explore”, further digging into the leadership behaviour is encouraged by using for example the virtual image check. “Engage” is the step where you seek to connect with your peers and stakeholders and advanced communication skills and techniques come in place. After engaging, “Enabling” is the next step, where a leader needs to be mindful of passive FaceTime bias among other important notions. By “Energising” the necessary people to buy into the leaders vision using teambuilding techniques and encouraging feedback, soon it the leader will reach the stage for “Execution”. During “Execution”, leadership meets management and management means steering by key metrics.

Much time was made for topic excursions, such as how to deliver tough messages to your team without the team loosing motivation and how to setup ground rules in communications in a team and how this surprisingly could lead to a teambuilding exercise. These topic excursions meant for the attendees additional added value for their investment in this training, a key point in the strategy of the PMI Belgium Chapter.

The feedback of the attendees was more than positive. The venue and the catering were highly rated, because of the inspirational setting. The trainer and the content was rated as “excellent”, where the differentiation factors were high energy delivery of relevant, hands-on tools for everyday life as a leader.

The PMI Belgium Chapter hopes to welcome you at the next masterclass. We will keep you posted via our newsletter and our website ( http://www.pmi-belgium.be).
